Essential Oils and Massage Work to Reduce Cellulite

Cellulite is a term given to fat deposits just below the skin. It looks lumpy and dimpled accumulating on the thighs, hips, buttocks, upper arms and abdomen. Cellulite is most common in adult women and tends to make most women unhappy to have this condition. So, we need to investigate this more closely.

Factors that influence cellulite are:

  • If other women in your family have cellulite, chances are you will too

  • Poor diet

  • Fad dieting

  • Slow metabolism

  • Lack of physical activity

  • Hormone changes

  • Dehydration

  • Total body fat

  • Thickness and color of your skin

A good way to reduce the accumulation of toxins in our body is through massage and an added plus is that it is so very relaxing. This process stimulates the system that is directly below the skin, known as the lymphatic system.

A daily self-massage with essential oils can help break down fatty deposits and help the toxins to be eliminated from our body. Let’s go over a couple of things before getting started. First of all, you will need an aromatherapy-based oil. Then you should rub your hands together with the oil warming the oil so it is easier to apply. It is also recommended in preparation that you sit or lie comfortably and breathe slowly relaxing your whole body.

How to give yourself a massage to eliminate cellulite:  Self massage Upper Leg

  1. Apply essential oil to the cellulite areas

  2. Begin massaging your thigh (when finished with one thigh go to the other thigh) using a gentle but firm upwards stroke, working upwards so your circulation and lymph flow will be affected. Make sure to alternate finger, knuckles and the palm of your hand for the most benefit

  3. Take hold of the cellulite area between your thumb and fingers kneading gently in a circular motion like you were kneading dough

  4. Grasp the skin once again between thumb and fingers and pinch gently slowly pulling it away from your body and then in all directions

  5. Use broad relaxing strokes to smooth and relax your thighs

  6. Moving to the buttocks, place the palms of your hands flat on your buttocks (one hand on each buttock) and circle upwards and outwards using slow, gentle movements

  7. On to the stomach, massage your stomach using gentle circular movements with the flats of your hands

  8. Last but not least are the arms. Starting at your wrist moving to your shoulder, using a firm but gentle, kneading motion. Then glide down your arm again to your wrist. Repeat several times with each arm

  9. Ending the session with broad relaxing strokes to smooth and relax your body

These sessions should be done twice a day every day and within a month you should see amazing results.

Some essential oils such as juniper, citrus, rosemary, lemon, lemongrass, grapefruit, and geranium and carrier oils include coconut oil, jojoba oil, walnut oil, hazelnut oil, sweet almond oil and avocado oil to name a few that are commonly used in making homemade massage oils.    cinnamon-oil

Antibacterial essential oils assist the body in removing toxins that are stored in fat cells. Cinnamon and geranium have very strong antibacterial properties and should be considered for the massage oil.

Essential oils in conjunction with light massage and lifestyle changes may reduce the appearance of cellulite. Lifestyle changes may include a detoxification diet with organic fruits, vegetables and fiber, plenty of water, dry skin brushing to promote lymphatic drainage, massage therapies, regular exercise, and avoiding alcohol and smoking for maximum results.

Here is a book that I came across and thought it had some very helpful and inspiring information. Let’s just get right down to it!
